Research Communities

As part of our mission, we have established research communities that focus on the key problems affecting the world. Research communities are faculty-led collaborative efforts that are enabled by the Ken Kennedy Institute. We develop novel technologies in AI theory, machine learning, generative AI, optimization, model engineering, distributed systems, scientific machine learning, computer vision and robotics, large-scale science simulation, and computational engineering to solve these global challenges. Our research areas address gaps in health, climate risk and resilience, disaster relief, sustainability, energy, social sciences, humanities, and equity.
