The Ken Kennedy Institute delivers two signature conferences each year: AI in Health (in the fall) and Energy HPC (in the spring). Each conference attracts more than 450 participants and establishes Rice in the TMC and energy sector in Houston, nationally, and globally.

4th Annual AI in Health Conference | September 22-25, 2025

The 4th Annual AI in Health Conference is designed to connect researchers and innovators with engineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs at the forefront of AI in healthcare and public health. The conference, taking place September 22–25, 2025 at Rice University, will explore the current landscape of artificial intelligence in health and present a research-driven outlook for the future of computational health innovation, highlighting advancements in (1) Robotics and Healthcare, (2) AI for Modern Therapeutics, and (3) AI for Clinical Research.

2020 OGHPCEnergy High Performance Computing Conference

19th Annual Energy HPC Conference | February 24-26, 2026

The Energy High Performance Computing Conference, hosted annually at Rice University by the Ken Kennedy Institute, is the premier meeting place for the energy industry to engage in conversations about challenges and opportunities in high performance computing, computational science and engineering, machine learning, and data science. Attended by more than 500 leaders and experts from the energy industry, academia, national labs, and IT industry, this is a unique opportunity for key stakeholders to engage and network to help advance HPC in the energy industry.

Attended by 500 leaders and experts from the energy industry, academia, national labs, and IT industry, this is a unique opportunity for key stakeholders to engage and network to help advance HPC in the energy industry. The agenda for the conference includes invited speakers, a technical program, birds of a feather sessions, an exhibit hall, networking receptions, poster presentations, and post-conference workshops. Technical themes for conference sessions are developed based on current industry challenges as well as the diversity and strengths of the abstracts received.

This conference has become the key venue for planners and practitioners alike. This is a forum for taking the pulse of industry needs and discussing challenges, opportunities, and new development at the interface of the energy industry, the IT industry, and the academic and research community.
