Join us this Thursday, March 9, 2023 for a Ken Kennedy Institute Distinguished Lecture with V. Balaji, Distinguished Fellow at Schmidt Futures and Make Our Planet Great Again Fellow at Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace, Paris.

In his talk, V. Balaji discusses the argument around traditional general circulation models, or GCMs, and presents potential approaches founded on a renewed emphasis to mathematical methods of calibration and dimensionality reduction, using the GCM's structure to connect twins to emulators to long-running models of the Earth's past and future.

April Distinguished Lecture: Dr. Adam Phillippy

April 25, 2023 | BRC Auditorium at Rice University


Register for the upcoming Ken Kennedy Institute Distinguished Lecture with Dr. Adam Phillippy, Senior Investigator at National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Phillippy's lab develops computational methods for the analysis of DNA sequences, including genome sequencing, comparative genomics, forensics, and metagenomics. He has developed foundational methods for mapping and comparing whole genomes and pioneered the use of single-molecule sequencing for the reconstruction of complete genomes. He is a co-founder of the Telomere-to-Telomere Consortium and led the team that finished the last remaining regions of the human genome. For this work, he was named by TIME magazine as one of 2022’s most influential people.

2023 HCC - AI Conference

March 30-31, 2023 | HCC West Houston Institute (WHI) Auditorium

Register for the 2023 HCC - Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference, led by the Computer Science Association (CSA) student club at HCC, with support from the Ft. Bend Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Houston Partnership.

The event gathers representatives from the AI in every industry who will highlight the latest advancements in AI and the many opportunities that the field has to offer. The conversation will also center on how academia and industry can partner to build a local talent pipeline for AI development to energize the Houston region’s economy. There will be panel discussions, presentations, demos, and exhibits featuring AI’s applications in a broad range of industries.
