August 2020 Newsletter

Member of the Month, Dr. Vicky Yao, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Yao shares her research interests and what she's working on.
What is your favorite aspect of your research?
Ultimately, the big motivating factor for me is the downstream potential to impact human health. And along the way, I really enjoy collaborations, especially with biomedical researchers - when there's a good synergistic relationship, it can be a lot of fun. It's always exciting when the methods, tools, or predictions we make are put to a actual use and end up helping discover something new about biology. Also, I get to learn so much about vastly different areas of research directly from a domain expert!
