Technology Innovation Lecture Series

Date: Today, April 20, 3:00 - 4:00 PM CST

Bio: Suman Talukdar is a Founding Partner at AiSprouts.vc, helping entrepreneurs build category-leading ventures. Prior to starting the fund, Suman was a successful Silicon Valley venture-backed operator, with five back-to-back exits including Cloudflare’s IPO, Anaplan’s IPO, and Clearwell’s sale to Symantec for $400M. He was also an active angel investor, building a portfolio with names such as Ripple, Palantir, and Sharetribe. His most recent exits include 6d.ai (acquired by Niantic) and Apprente (acquired by McDonald’s).
A published author on innovation, Suman also holds an MBA from Harvard and a bachelor of science in Electrical Computer Engineering from Rice University.

2021 Machine Learning Boot Camp

Date: May 20-21, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST

Registration is now open for the 2021 Virtual Machine Learning Boot Camp on May 20-21, 2021. This year's boot camp will be a virtual two-day boot camp with a focus on Machine Learning for Executives. Taught by a team of Rice professors in the computational sciences, Chris Jermaine, Santiago Segarra, and Anastasios Kyrillidis, the Machine Learning Boot Camp will integrate lectures describing the basic concepts to state-of-the-art Machine Learning.

We offer low rates for Rice faculty, students, and staff as well as Gulf Coast Consortia Trainees. We also offer 20% off of the Industry rate for Rice Alumni and small business.

Human Genome Sequencing Center at BCM Seminar

Date: April 23, 2021 at 10 - 12:30 PM CST

The Human Genome Sequencing Center will be having their second long read sequencing seminar on Friday, April 23, 2021. This will be a two-and-a-half-hour free virtual seminar with a focus on the Pacific Biosciences platform. We will have experts from PacBio sharing latest advances from their platform and collaborators sharing how they have used PacBio sequencing to enhance their research studies. Click here to register.

9th Eubank Conference on Real World Markets

Join us on Monday, April 26 for a webinar on Sports Analytics and Gaming Risk Management. The virtual event will feature lectures on the rising popularity of international sports, the growth of the global sports betting market and the importance of data-driven betting strategies, as well as industry concerns, and the economic impact of a legalized sports betting markets. The webinar is free to all attendees and there is no cost for the April 27 short course for Rice students and postdoctoral fellows. There is a $100 registration fee for the short course, for non-Rice students.

Offshore Technology Conference

Date: Aug 16-19, 2021 In-Person at NRC Arena
OTC is the largest oil, gas and energy exhibit in the world. OTC is not only oil and gas. Alternative energies, water, soil, environmental remediation, methane emissions and other topics of interest to the extensive Rice faculty will be in display. The most modern in automation, machine learning, power generation, data transmission, power transmission, etc. The Conference has extended an invitation to Rice students to volunteer and receive in exchange a free pass for the four days of exhibit and conference.
