AI in Health Conference

Workshop: November 7 | Conference: November 8-9 | BRC at Rice University

Don’t miss the opportunity to share your ideas at the AI in Health Conference, happening Nov. 7-9, 2022 in-person at Rice University's BRC. We are looking for abstracts that present a ten-year outlook on artificial intelligence and machine learning for healthcare and public health. This year there will be a focus on mental health, imaging, and genomics, but all topics are welcome. Abstract submissions are due by Friday, Sept 12.

BCM-RICE 3rd Networking and Collaboration Event

The Rice Office of ENRICH and BCM INSTINCT Surgery invite you to attend the 3rd Networking and Collaboration Event on September 8, 2022 at 5:00 at the BRC Event Hall. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together faculty and staff from Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine to foster new collaborations in surgical innovation, and strengthen research and educational opportunities between our institutions. The workshop includes a series of rapid presentations, discussion and networking segments in the areas of Engineering, Data Science and Chem/Bio, as well an announcement about a seed grant opportunity following the event. There is no charge to attend and the registration form can be found here. Registration will be accepted through September 5.

Learning & Doing Data for Good Conference

The University of Washington eScience Institute and the West Big Data Innovation Hub are hosting Learning and Doing Data for Good: A conference for academics and their partners from September 9-11, 2022. At this hybrid event, you will hear from current students and alumni from university-based data for good programs alongside project partners and data science professionals. This will be a space for inspiring discussions and for connecting with colleagues who are motivated to learn from and meet the needs of communities and people using data for change. Keynote speaker Dr. Desmond Patton, Professor at the Columbia School of Social Work and Department of Sociology, will talk about his work using qualitative and computational data collection methods to examine the relationship between youth and gang violence and social media.
